FAQ EWE eCap

General information

EWE eCap - EWE Gasspeicher GmbH’s sales platform for storage capacities - is an auction portal on which you, as a prospective buyer, can submit bids for capacities and gas volumes in the natural gas storage facilities of EWE GASSPEICHER. The storage capacities are distributed among the natural gas cavern storage facilities in the Jemgum, Nüttermoor and Huntorf salt formations in northwestern Germany and in Rüdersdorf near Berlin. You can submit an offer to EWE GASSPEICHER to conclude a contract. The capacities are distributed transparently and without discrimination.

Since the quantity of natural gas produced is always consistent, the supply contracts that gas producers conclude with companies who forward the gas to consumers are for fixed quantities. The fixed supply quantities do not always suffice to meet weather-related fluctuations in demand. Natural gas storage facilities compensate the resulting difference between consistent production and seasonally and economically varying sales volumes. At the same time, the storage facilities ensure supply security, as they act as a buffer in the event of supply interruptions. The natural gas storage facilities of EWE GASSPEICHER are also connected to national and international L- and H- gas transport networks in the market areas GASPOOL, NetConnect Germany and TTF (Netherlands).

The start page of the EWE eCAP portal is divided into a header, the middle section and a footer. The header contains the navigation items "Login", "Register" and "FAQ". When logging on to the website for the first time, please use the registration field. Already registered users can access the auction portal by login. The middle section of the start page contains the main information on EWE GASSPEICHER and the cavern locations. Here you will again find two navigation fields for login and registration. The field below contains information on the currently running auctions and storage products. The button below also takes you to the RSS feed, and to the link on the far right in the footer. The footer also contains links to the imprint, the privacy policy and the terms and conditions.
